Goal setting isn't new, we know it is useful and can be powerful. Even if you don't realise it you are constantly goal setting... think about this. Every decision to do, be, or have something is a mini goal. Deciding to go out for dinner is a goal, then the strategy of where, and getting there are the steps to bring this goal to reality.
Goals are not only those hoop high shots that seem out of your reach. The small goals are essential to achieve the big ones, and the momentum created when the small goals are celebrated, and move into the next goal. Each one is a stepping or foundation step for the next big one.
In most instances, goals in fact start as a dream. We see, hear or read something and a thought can be fleeting through the mind that goes something like "Yeah, that would be cool to do, be or have that" Therefore, daydreaming is an essential part of goal setting and the frequency you dream such is in meditation, reading, watching movies, doodling, art, creatives, projects, study, travel; basically the constant exploration of new information, situations etc. increases the fodder for the imagination to consider more and different goals.
For many, we don't give ourselves permission to consider the more out there ideas as possible. We may knock them down, dispute the notion, ignore, say negative things, or say it is isn't possible or any number of statement that negates the possibility to achieve something new.
Goal setting is a two sided experience first we need to give ourselves permission to write down what we think or are inspired without judgement, then the other side is to transform the negativity, fear and blocks that get triggered by the inspiration. The magic happens when we transform the blocks and limiting beliefs to create space for the inspired dream to come into reality.
